Welcome to my garden blog...
There are many garden blogs out there...but this one is mine and slightly more militant than the next. You see, I garden for a number of reasons - political, spiritual and practical. I'm not your sweet Aunt Ida planting cucumbers just because they taste good...I'm a suburban/urban garden warrior that wants to put a grinding halt to the growing US dependence on foreign food sources, local poverty/hunger and further damage to our environment - one small "farm" plot or patio garden at a time!
So, sit back and enjoy the on-going saga of how I am turning my suburban home's small acreage into a viable, multi-season garden...or die trying...
It's 7:30 AM...do you know where your breakfast came from? Is it really safe to eat or is it part of some big Chinese conspiracy to kill us? Did growing it open up a bigger hole in the ozone? Did migrant workers get used and abused while picking it for your table? Do you feel like a selfish link in the food chain? Is the stress and guilt over those corn flakes giving you an ulcer? Maybe it's time to become part of the solution instead of part of the problem...

- I was born in 1963 to a WWII vet father (Don) and Depression era baby mother (Barbara), one of four children they raised on one of the last working working farms (Weygandt Family established 1847) between Grove City and the westside of Columbus, Ohio. That farm is now long gone having been sold to developers to make way for continuous urban sprawl that now plagues Columbus; however, the farming ethic is still alive and well in me today. My "farm" may now be reduced to a small patch of land attached to my suburban Columbus home, but I pledge to make it productive and beneficial to not only my family but to my planet.
